Description
"Sleep soundly princess, I'll watch over you....""I'm always watching you"
Yes this is not something most would expect from cheery ol' me. But it was inspired by a few songs, and I'm always intrigued with cases of extreme emotion. Here it's 'love'. Yes a sick, twisted love.
No references used. Well, I stared at my right hand alot and opted not to take a photo...(which sucked because I'm left handed!) The rest was from my head. This piece was about playing with cloth and light again, texture, more tablet practice....and to FINALLY prove I can draw hands (see My Wife the Assassin ). By the way my nails aren't that chewed up and dirty
This piece is dedicated to

Ambitious piece, Many would shy away from something so difficult. Great Job!!

i can't really see the texture, probalbly cause of my comp., but if i can see a zoom, it'd be great. I'd really like to see what you came up with. Oh, and you're welcome!

The hands are great, nice detail. And stop chewing the nails, they grow to be pretty and dainty.
sorry, for that comment, KittyKat made me say it.
Nice to see more of your work, Brett. Keep it coming

G COMPOSITION.
well rendered too
nice pencil going.

The strongest points in this pic would have to be the mood (very creepy and dynamic), the hands and the tv effect. Lovely work with the texture- I checked out the big version. Great work!
I think the only things that could be improved is the girl (a couple little anatomy problems, mainly with how she's posed, I think) and the lighting on the bedhead (I don't really know what makes it look off though). Besides that, I think this is a really well done and thoughtful piece!
You're good at telling stories Brett- use that to your advantage!
And for goodness sakes, next time you see Sarah, give her a big ol' hug. She sounds like an absolute sweetie.
Keep up the great work! ^_^

The work you made with textures is very well done! The ones of the hands and fingers are great! Very, very nice!
02/02/05 @775
Great concept, would be great if I could photograph my dreams and use them as reference.
p.s. sorry about the Spider-Man thing mate, I didn't realise you were gonna do one too.I hate it when that happens hahah.Anyway plenty of room for Spidey, and I'm sure yours will be totally different take on it than mine. Can't wait.

Her anatomy is a bit off - you might want to look at references until you get the hang out of certain body twists - it's not an easy pose to draw either imo.
You know what caught my eye the most? The Teddy - that little bugger looks awesome

I agree about the female's anatomy. Aside from looking at references, I think you could get a good idea of what the pose should look like if you actually try it out just before drawing it. For example, you will find that when you are slightly curled up like that, it feels much more natural to have your shoulders close to your face. Also, if you're not already doing this, keep a track of the important structures such as the spine, the ribcage and the hip bones. I find it very helpful.
Another thing... outside of the screen it seems underdetailed. It's not the most important part of the picture or anything, but I'd like to see more than just solid black.
Speaking of monitors, the gap between the scanlines is too wide. ...Okay, I'm just nitpicking. This is great stuff -- can't wait to see the edit, if you do one

Good work 9+

Also, the glow you added doesn't really work here, I'm not really sure why, I guess the shapes of the TV doesn't match the shapes of the glow and additionally to that, where should be a different lighting because of the frame a TV usually is in.
This is even more confusing as the hands also grab like there were no frame. Correct me if I'm wrong but I can't remember any TV without a frame around it.
On your drawing itself - it's awesome
PS: forgot to read the other crits so sorry if I critted something that has already been mentioned

I know there were some anatomy issues...the problems of not having a reference, and her face in truth came out with a bit more of an 'anime' feel than I was looking for (none whatsoever.

The drawing has an interesting expression as well. I especially like the highlighting you applied to the fingers.

Have you watch the Japanese version?
It is creepier than the Hollywood ones...
02/12/05 @616
That the anatomy of the girl is off a bit can easily be ignored

loved the TV effect..
since i get the impression that this was done stylishly i dont feel the small mistakes bother me that much..
and i agree with Andy
a reflection would really strenghten the image and give it an even spookier mood
